Lost Child

The lost child that lies deep within all of us,
Cries out to the world of shattered trust.
She sings of the sorrow that binds her from within.
She weeps for what was taken by man's selfish whim.

The child rages in the silence of a world gone insane,
Battering against the wall we've put up to hide that shame.
The burning hunger to strike against those who stole our dreams,
Can not be quenched with only an apology for what could have been.

Nurture that child lost in the battle that forged the person we've become.
Only if the child is found and we are once more made into one -
Can the raging demon that reside in us be tamed and silence ever more.
Perhaps then, we will learn to let go of all the pain that we've stored.

Healing is an endless journey on a road fill with sorrow and pain.
The wounds of yesteryear so powerful it can barely be contained.
Yet this path must be, so that the child from within might find harmony.
For only a phoenix rising from the ashes can hold its own destiny.
